The Left Hand of Darkness Adaptation

<h2>(print: (passage:)'s name)</h2> This adaptation of //The Left Hand of Darkness//, by Ursula K. Le Guin consists of the Gethenians traveling to Terra, also known as Earth, during the 21st Century. They have come to Terra to try to convince the Terrans to join a trade coalition with Karhide, a nation on planet Gethen. It is a warm summer day, with the sun high in the sky and almost no clouds in sight. <img src="https://blog.nissan.co.jp/DEALER/UPLOADS/0440/1/20191765695b15e1fc5dd37.jpg" alt="man" height="400" width="auto"> On the way to the station, Ai thought that it would be best to stop and pick up new clothes for the Gethenians as he heard that it is quite cold on Gethen, unlike the summer weather Terra was experiencing. He thought of two clothing stores that he could go to: [[Terran Outfitters->Ai goes to old navy]] [[Terran Wearhouse->Ai goes to Mens Warehouse]]

Inside the Terran Outfitters, Ai picks out a set of unisex basketball shorts and a t-shirt for both of the Gethenians that are planned to arrive. Inside the Terran Wearhouse, Ai picks out suits for both of the Gethenians that are planned to arrive. Through the bustling traffic of the station comes a loud bang as the Gethenian ship breaks into the blue sky and makes its way toward the landing zone. <img src="https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQlknTWpQbMmyl3brQri1xvz8XEHdhZbSiS2w&usqp=CAU" alt="man"> <script>A.t['station_ambience'].fade(0.7, 0.0, 3000);</script> <script>A.t['boom'].volume(1.0);</script> <script>A.t['boom'].play();</script> A crowd of high ranking military officials led by Ai begin to make their way toward the landing zone. Argaven feeling almost insulted by the dialect of the Terrans, replied and thanked Ai and began asking about the coalition. Ai, being surprised by Argaven's fluent and excellent articulation of the English language, explains to the King how the Terrans have prepared a great day before they discuss the coalition Argaven reluctantly agrees as he and Estraven follow Ai into the station. At the station, Ai presents Argaven and Estraven with the new clothes as gifts. Estraven excitedly runs to change into them. <img src = "https://cf.shopee.ph/file/cd6bc82b701557f332d4820965a4b739" alt="man"> However, Argaven accepted the gift but stubbornly stayed in his thick bulky winter clothing, even though he was visibly sweating. <img src = "https://www.johntyman.com/arctic/pics/201.jpg" alt="man"> Ai then asks them both what they would like to do first: [[View the Terran Museum->Museum]] [[Get something to eat->Eat]]

Ai, Argaven, and Estraven all get into a car and begin traveling to the Terran Museum In front of them is a fleet of emergency vehicles containing everything from fire trucks to ambulances, and on the side of the roads, there were crowds of people cheering and clapping. <script>A.t['background'].fade(0.2, 0.0, 5000);</script> <script>A.t['firetruck'].volume(0.5);</script> <script>A.t['firetruck'].play();</script> <img src = "https://www.inforum.com/news/article349345.ece/alternates/BASE_LANDSCAPE/Fire%20trucks%20on%20parade" alt="man" height="400" width="auto"> The gethenians being confused asked Ai what they were doing, Ai replied, "It is a parade to welcome the Gethenians to Terra!" Estraven laughing told Ai that parades on Gethen are much different. Ai felt that Agraven is mildly uncomfortable with the Terrans idea of a parade. They eventually arrive at the [[museum.->Museum2]]

Ai, Argaven, and Estraven all get into a car and begin traveling to a dining hall where Terran military chefs have prepared a meal. Genly continues, "Some of the other Terrans have raised a concern that Karhide will try to block Terra in trading with other nations on Gethen. Ai reflects on the selfish arrogant demeanor of the King. Genly starts to doubt the coalition. He never put much thought into what the other Terrans thought. The King is very confident in Karhide. He believes he rules Gethen with fear, so no country will work out of line. The meeting lasts another hour, they still haven't come close to an agreement. Genly asks if the King would like a look around Terra. He reluctantly says yes. [[Go to a beach->Beach]] [[Go to a park->Park]]

Back at the station Ai walks the Gethenians back to their ship. Before they enter the ship both Gethenians stick out their hands, as they have learned throughout the day that a handshake finalizes an agreement. Ai gladly reaches forth and shakes both of their hands and says, "Thanks for visiting, it has been historic." The Gethenians enter the ship and begin making their way into the night sky. <img src="https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQQD8YKy2te-95Lg5a9KnyG4t-F9aRprwq2XQ&usqp=CAU" alt="man"> As the ship disappears off into the starry night sky, Ai could not help but think of planet Gethen. Excited about the new trade coalition that he has joined, he makes his way home to begin planning the announcement of the new coalition to the rest of the Terrans. [[end->end]]

Ai begins to explain the legend of Davey Crockett and how he became the image of the American frontier. He continues to explain a small part of his adventures by telling Estraven how against his fears he decided to join the Alamo defenders to fight during the Texas Revolution. He was a true leader and a role model for a lot of people Argaven interrupts by saying, "To be a truly good leader one must rule with fear." Ai says, "Well, fear is just an emotion and could be interpreted in many ways, anyway what would you like to do next? [[Get something to eat->Eat2]] [[Go to the meeting->Meeting]]
